Lap of Luxury

I don't give enough love to Sophie on this blog!  That grubby little thing with her is her boyfriend.  I don't know what it is but she spends hours licking him up and down.  It's kind of inappropriate =)

One of my favorite things about Kolton is his ability to entertain himself.  He is especially good at it in the morning when he wakes up.  He isn't the wake up and start crying type of kid.  Instead when he wakes up he likes to play with his music box/projection mobile.  Is it mean that I know he's awake but don't go in there to get him right away?  This morning I heard the music at about 6:30 but not a peep from him.  I peaked in there around 7:00 and he was just laying there staring up at it so I decided to take a quick shower. When I was done I discovered that he fell back asleep!!!!  I assume that means he wasn't ready to get up.  But, sometimes he thinks its his nap....yup, this has happened before.  Mike and I tend to get wrapped up in what he might be missing out on at daycare so I love the little luxuries he gets by staying home.

Party Rock

All weekend I continued to feel guilty about that darn cat.  The owner returned my call on Friday and told me the reason she wasn't home is she had to go out of town for her father's funeral.  Talk about a punch in the gut.  I feel so horrible!  I should have insisted the neighbor help me catch it and if she refused I should have gone to another door. Ugh!

Kolton has decided to test his bedtime limits this weekend....little man is on his 3rd night of partying.  We thought he was coming down with a little cold so when he woke up crying after 2 hours on Friday night we concluded he must be incredibly stuffy and unable to breathe.  So we brought him downstairs and proceeded to earn the worst parent award by watching a rated R comedy (21 Jump Street) with our toddler double fisting water and milk.  He went to bed after 11:00...  Last night he wailed for 45 minutes; then partied until after 10:00.  Oh yeah, I should probably mention he is still sleeping for 12 hours! And napping for 3 hours in the late afternoon.  So while I'm enjoying the peaceful and looooong mornings I know this insanity has got to end.  But it's already 8:30 and he is still playing in high gear =)

Here Kitty Kitty

On our morning walk I noticed a sign, complete with picture, on the edge of the community indicating someone had lost their cat.  I'm actually slightly amazed at the number of people that have indoor/outdoor cats around here.  So on tonight's walk when I saw a cat with a likeness of the sign I wasn't quite sure what to do.  The pain in the ass was that the signs were only up on poles at the edge of the community so I had to run and find the house number.  The cat was in a storm sewer thingy pretty close to the address on the flyer.  Um, I should probably mention that an undisclosed reward was indicated!  Anyway, heart thumping, I knocked on the door...no answer.  So I went next door...nothing again.  Mind you I now live in a townhome community so the doors are like 10 feet from one another.  When I could clearly see lights on in the end unit I couldn't wait.  I Found The Cat!  I Found The Cat!  The woman spied me curiously.  "Ummm, is your neighbor still missing their cat, because I think I see it in that gutter"  I said.  "So, that cat is dead."  She replied.  "Oh, no, no...it's right over there"  I said pointing.  "I knocked on their door but no one was home."  "Oh, Ok, I'll let them know."  Hmmm, I was kinda thinking that the neighbor would help me catch it.  But since she jumped about a mile when Sophie sniffed her ankle I assume she isn't an animal person.  So, now I feel completely guilty!  Should I have tried to catch it in a crate or something?  I'm not even sure this is the cat!  I also left a voicemail but haven't heard anything back yet.   I feel so guilty!  If Sophie was lost and someone saw her I would be wondering why they didn't try to bring her in.  But I also didn't want to get clawed by some random feline.  I'm really hope they get reunited; even if I don't get my reward.

Cleaning Up Well

In addition to being slightly over weight I also struggle with how to present myself on a daily basis.  This summer has been awesome because I've been living in sun dresses.  Some cuter than others but still...as long as I put a little makeup on I don't look terrible.  But now that we are even remotely thinking about fall I find myself in a little fashion tailspin.  I'm going down!  I hate having to pull up jeans all of the time and often resort to yoga pants.  Yup, just like that girl in the commercial; I'm to lazy to wear regular pants to I wear yoga pants.  And it doesn't mean I'm going to, or have been to, the gym.  But its a slippery slope to looking like crap.  Aaaaaah!  I need some comfy, yet fashion forward inspiration so if you have any please share!

Not The Baby

Niece #5 was born today!  Congratulations to my brother Joel, his wife Katina, and big sister Zoey (4) on the new addition to the family; Lucy Madison Zwiefelhofer!  This means Kolton is not the baby of the family anymore.  Even when we were back home in July the girls still called him Baby Kolton.  The holidays are going to be fun but, my poor little guy is going to have to give up his claim on the crib.

Whirlwind

We had quite the whirlwind weekend back in Baltimore.  Wedding dress shopping with Kristin, catching up over a glass of wine..or two ;), dinner our the next night, and a baby shower on Sunday.  This is why I miss living in that city so much!  Its funny how sleepy living in the suburbs really is.

After living in utility hell for a few weeks I think we've finally got everything hooked up properly.  I can't even begin to express how annoyed I've been with the entire process.  Please remind me of this when we even think about moving again.  Seriously, the security company was just here this morning again...it took 3 attempts to get the thing hooked up; TV & internet also took 3; I don't know how people with jobs are able to do it?!?!

Memory Keeper

I feel kind of sorry for kids today because chances are they will never feel the thrill of stumbling upon a box of old photos.  I found pictures (including the roll of film!) from about 10 years ago.  My trip to London & Barcelona, a brother's wedding, and the early days of my relationship with Mike.  I also found baby pictures of both Mike and I...obviously those are older than 10 years =)  As I was staring at them I tried to remember the last time I actually printed out pictures.  Sure Kolton will have computer files to look through and maybe a produced memory book or two.  But gone are the days of stashing stacks of prints in a box to travel through time.
